Hello neighbor shadow man
Your sister was in the other car (with your mother? I don't recall a mother figure ever being hinted at). One day you went for a ride in the Neighbor's truck and got into a car accident. The Neighbor had two kids, you and your little sister.
I remember in Alpha 4, there was a Russian saying hanging in the house somewhere, which roughly translated to, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree." And I think some people have missed the fact that the final achievement you get in the game is called "Like Father, Like Son." I frankly have no idea what significance there may be with the suitcase, but I think the apple might actually be fairly straightforward. I feel the same way as you re: the theories and the bugs. the game is understandably getting a lot of flack for its bugs but it completely captivated me and i loved playing through it I would love to hear other people's theories. the protag used music as a way of relaxing himself when stressed by the trauma, explains the recorder in the beginning and the turntables seen through the game. could anyone shed light on what those were supposed to mean? was thinking maybe he was kidnapped there instead? the thing that eluded me were the classroom scenes. is there supposed to be some kind of significance/symbolism with the apple/suitcase? seemed like the game kept drawing attention to them the game seemed to hint with objects around the house at the neighbor's previous occupation as a carny or something similar? there he sleeps, has his nightmares, confronts his past trauma (the shadow/big neighbor), and wakes up more ready to move in. after being evicted, he had no choice but to move back to his family home across from the neighbor's house. he went on to live his life but had ptsd after being kidnapped. he eventually escaped and set fire to the neighbor's house and killed him in the process. protag was kidnapped in a grocery store after the neighbor saw him witness the murder, is taken to the neighbor's house, and kept there against his will. after his psychotic break, the neighbor started kidnapping and confining children as a messed up way of coping with daughter's loss. after that he had some kind of psychotic break, killed his partner(or a child?), and the protag witnessed this as a kid(scene protag saw through neighbor's window). Not sure if correct but what i got from the story: the neighbor was in a car accident which killed his daughter (hospital, roller coaster, and street scenes).
